Terms & Conditions

• Open to artists living in the Greater Cleveland area, defined by the 7 counties considered the CMA Service Region: Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Summit 
• Artists must be 18 years or older 
• All media accepted for consideration, including painting, sculpture, photography, print, video, installation, textile, ceramics, and mixed media 
• Both individual and collaborative work are welcome 
• Maximum two works per submitting individual/collective
• Proposals must include recent work created within the last five years. All work should be completed at the time of submission 
• If selected, all artwork is expected to be display ready. Artists will be responsible for transporting their work to and from the Transformer Station. 

Agreement and Waiver 

I, the undersigned, if selected, will temporarily deposit my artwork at The Cleveland Museum of Art [CMA] Transformer Station for the exhibition Lake Effect: Artists from Cleveland Now [“Lake Effect”].  Lake Effect will be held at the Transformer Station (1460 West 29th Street) from July 9 to November 22, 2026.   

If selected, I agree to drop off my artwork at the Transformer Station during the designated timeframes, to be communicated upon selection, on June 8–12, 2026. I agree that the artwork will be ready for installation and not require additional mounting, framing, security, or manipulation. After the closure of Lake Effect, I agree to collect my artwork from the Transformer Station at a designated pick up time, prior to December 4th. No additional pick up dates or transportation of artwork will be available. If I do not collect my artwork before the stated date, I understand and agree that my artwork will be abandoned property, and the CMA will dispose of it.   

I understand and agree that the artwork will not be insured by the CMA. I understand and agree that the CMA is not liable for loss or damage to the artwork while on deposit. I understand that food and beverages will be allowed in the galleries.   

I understand and agree that the CMA, press, and visitors may photograph, film, videotape, record, or otherwise document my artwork, the exhibition, and the opening event in any media. I authorize the CMA to make and distribute images, reproductions, or representations of my artwork in any medium, for noncommercial purpose.
